A series of recent shootings left one person injured and several Aurora homes damaged by gunfire, Aurora police said.

The latest shooting occurred Monday morning around 1:30 a.m. when a home in the 1700 block of Ravine Park Lane was struck by bullets. The shots caused about $900 in damage, police said.

Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said Monday’s shooting marked the second time in four days that a home in the 1700 block of Ravine Park Lane was struck by gunfire.

Ferrelli said that following a preliminary investigation, it appears that the shooting is gang-related. Investigators have not ruled out the theory that the initial shooting was a case of mistaken identity, he said.

The string of shootings kicked off on Friday when a 16-year-old was shot around 7:45 p.m. as he stood on a corner near Liberty Street and Claim Street. Police are not disclosing where the teen was shot, but said his injuries were non-life threatening. Police said he was not cooperative.

Following the incident, Ferrelli said the victim told police he was shot by someone in a black vehicle, which continued eastbound on Liberty Street following the attack.

An hour later, police were called by a couple who had been stopped at a light near New York Street and Broadway when they heard shots ring out.

The couple said that around 8:45 p.m. they saw someone in a dark colored SUV stopped behind them shoot at least five bullets toward another SUV that was nearby. The suspect’s SUV, which had three or four men inside, sped away from the scene, following the victim’s vehicle.

According to police reports, no one showed up at any local hospitals with gunshot wounds following the shooting.

On Saturday evening, more shots were fired throughout the city. At around 7:35 p.m., two homes in the 900 block of Fulton Street were damaged by gunfire, Ferrelli said. There was an estimated $500 in damage done to both homes.

Two suspects, who appeared to be in their teens and dressed all in black , were seen running from the area. Ferrelli said the men headed southbound on Smith Street from westbound Fulton Street and fled the scene. No one was injured.

Anyone with information about these shootings is asked to call Aurora Police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
