Jasen J. Phipps, 23, of Oswego, has been sentenced to 54 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Phipps was sentenced by Kendall County Chief Judge Timothy McCann. Phipps will serve an additional six years in prison for another predatory criminal sexual assault that occurred in DeKalb County.

Of the total 60-year sentence, the defendant will be required to serve, under “truth in sentencing” guidelines, 85 percent of his sentence. Along with fees, costs and assessments, Phipps will be required to register as a child sex offender for the remainder of his natural life, if he is released from prison. His projected date to get out of prison would be some time in 2064.

However, even upon the conclusion of his term in prison, Phipps will be eligible for indeterminate custody under the Sexually Dangerous Persons Act.

Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis stated that the investigation into Phipps’ acts began when a concerned citizen reported that a child family member had said that Phipps would become intoxicated and then make the child perform sex acts with him.

Phipps was arrested on another outstanding warrant and interviewed by a member of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. During that interview, the defendant admitted to the predatory criminal sexual assaults he had committed on a child who was under the age of 9.
