Two men were seriously injured after being shot Monday evening in Aurora.
The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. near Coral Avenue and Adobe Drive, Aurora police said.
Police received multiple calls for shots fired in the 2000 block of Coral Avenue and found a 20-year-old victim in a yard in the 1000 block of Coral Avenue when they arrived.
He was suffering from gun shotwounds to the shoulder and chest, police said.
Around the same time, an 18-year-old man showed up at an Aurora hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. A family member had taken the victim in for treatment.
Police believe the victims were injured in the same incident.
According to Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli, the 18-year-old had been struck in the side and back.
Police said two weapons were recovered from yards in the area.
Ferrelli said a home in the 2000 block of Coral was also struck by gunfire, but no one inside the residence was injured.
“We are continuing to look for witnesses,” Ferrelli said. “We have several theories to what might have occurred, but we don’t have enough information to confirm those theories.”
Ferrelli said no definite motive has been established.
