(ST. CHARLES) Bond was set at $1 million on Saturday for a man charged with DUI for a head-on crash that killed a 65-year-old woman Friday afternoon in west suburban St. Charles.
About 2:05 p.m., Susan Gorecki was traveling southbound on North 2nd Street at Timbers Trail when a man driving northbound drifted across the center median and the vehicle he was driving struck Gorecki’s car head on, according to a statement from St. Charles police.
Gorecki, of St. Charles, was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva where she was later pronounced dead, police said.
The other driver, Joshua E. Spudich, was charged with four counts of aggravated DUI and one count each of possession of a controlled substance, DUI drugs, driving while license is revoked and improper lane usage, police said.
A judge on Saturday ordered Spudich, 23, held on a $1 million bond, according to the Kane County Sheriff’s office. He remains in custody at the Kane County Jail.
