A Wednesday evening shooting injured a 17-year-old after he was struck in the abdomen by a single bullet while walking in Aurora, police said.
The teen told police that he was walking near Lincoln Avenue and Bluff Street around 10 p.m. when he heard several gunshots. He said he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen, and walked home. When he got home the victim realized he had been shot, police said.
The bullet did not fully penetrate the victim’s body, and was still sticking out of his skin when he was driven by an acquaintance to an Aurora hospital for treatment, police said.
According to Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli, police searched the area. They found that a home in the 500 block of South LaSalle Street had been struck by gunfire.
Police said the shooting caused about $450 worth of damage to the home.
Officers talked to one resident who reported hearing gunshots in the area around 9:30 p.m., but did not see anything that could assist police in their investigation.
This is the third shooting in Aurora since Saturday evening, when a 46-year-old Aurora man was shot and killed.
Anyone with information about the shooting, or any shooting, is asked to call Aurora police investigators at 630-256-5500.
