A Yorkville man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a child he knew.
Robert Harrison, 34, 600 block of Bristol Road, will serve at least 85 percent of his sentence after admitting to the assaults, which occurred over several years.
Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis announced the sentence this week.
Weis said that Yorkville police began investigating the abuse after the victim disclosed the information to a school social worker. The child spoke at the sentencing hearing, Weis said. The victim’s mother also gave a victim impact statement.
Harrison pleaded guilty to predetory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony.
Judge Timothy McCann sentenced Harrison to 15 years in prison. Harrison will also be required to register as a child sexual predator for the rest of his life.
