Aurora logged its first shootings of 2015 recently after police responded to two separate shooting incidents throughout the city.

The first occurred on Saturday morning, around 1:40 a.m., when shots rang out in the 100 block of Bluff Street, police said.

Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said that a home and a parked vehicle on the block were struck by bullets during the incident, and sustained $350 in damage. No one was able to give a suspect or vehicle description, Ferrelli said.

Almost 24 hours later, at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the area of Wilder Street and Williams Street for reports of the year’s second shooting.

When they arrived, officers found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but learned nothing had been struck, Ferrelli said.

Witnesses told officers that people inside two vehicles – a minivan and a compact car – had been shooting at each other, and then sped away.

Ferrelli said officers were provided with no further vehicle or suspect information.

While no injuries occurred in either of Aurora’s first reported 2015 shootings, last year’s final shooting did leave one man injured.

On Saturday, Dec. 27, a 24-year-old man was dropped off at an Aurora hospital in a bullet-ridden vehicle, Ferrelli said.

The victim told police that he had been shot around 12:45 a.m. in the 1100 block of Kane Street.

Ferrelli said the victim was uncooperative, and gave conflicting stories as to what may have occurred during the shooting.

When officers responded to the 1100 block of Kane Street to investigate, they learned that a home on the block had been struck during the incident and sustained $1,100 in damages. Ferrelli said no one inside the home was injured.

Anyone with information about these shootings, or any shooting, is asked to call Aurora Police investigators at 630-256-5500, or Aurora Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
