Members of the North Central Narcotics Task Force allegedly found hundreds of narcotic prescription pills inside a woman’s St. Charles home when they arrested her on drug charges.

According to a recently returned search warrant, there were more than 10 different narcotic medications in various bottles scattered throughout the home of Julie Welch, 50, when police scoured the residence last month.

In an affidavit filed by police to secure a search warrant for Welch’s Indiana Avenue home, police said they were tipped off by an informant who claimed the woman was selling marijuana from the residence.

Task force agents said that on Dec. 22 they collected several garbage bags Welch had placed at the curb for pick-up, and got enough evidence they needed to secure their warrant.

Marijuana residue, empty cigar packages, and of other paraphernalia were located inside the plastic garbage bags, police said. Two day’s later, a Kane County judge granted the warrant and the home was searched.

Inside the home, police allegedly found more than a dozen pill bottles filled with prescription narcotics including morphine, amphetamines, several different anti-anxiety medications, muscle relaxers, sleeping medications, and ADHD medication.

Marijuana, $3,000 in cash, and several prescription slips in Welch’s name were also taken, as well as many non-narcotic prescription medications, according to records filed Jan 6.

Following the search, Welch was charged with 13 counts of felony drug possession and felony manufacturing/delivering a controlled substance. She was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Welch’s bail was set at $200,000.
