A Yorkville man already charged with robbing and beating an Aurora motel clerk in July is now facing kidnapping charges in Kendall County.
On Thursday, a warrant for the arrest of Rickey Carter, 39, was issued by Kendall County prosecutors.
Prosecutors charged Carter with multiple counts of felony domestic battery, unlawful restraint, kidnapping and robbery. The charges stem from a July 10 incident, Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis said.
Weis would not elaborate on the charges, but said more details will become available after Carter is brought in on the warrants.
Carter is currently in custody at the Kane County jail where he is being held on the Aurora armed robbery charges.
According to Aurora police, Carter, 2100 block of Muirfield Drive, walked into the Motel 6 at 2380 N. Farnsworth Ave. around 3 a.m. on July 11 and asked the female clerk to break a dollar bill.
After he took the change, the victim told police that Carter pulled a pipe from his waistband, jumped over the counter and began to attack the clerk. Carter was able to steal nearly $300 from the motel and run away.
An hour and a half after the robbery, Carter approached an Illinois State Police trooper and asked him for a ride. The trooper subsequently recognized Carter as matching the robbery suspect’s description, and Carter was taken into custody.
His bail for the new Kendall County charges was set at $250,000, Weis said.
