A group of suspects targeting elderly Aurora residents may have struck again, stealing cash from an 85-year-old resident.
Police said that at 10 a.m. Thursday, three men knocked on the door of a home in the 400 block of North Elmwood Drive and asked the resident if he could break a $100 bill.
According to Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli, the resident went to his bedroom to see if he had change.
Unable to find change for the bill, the resident relayed the information to the three suspects, who drove away in a white pickup truck.
A few hours later, Ferrelli said the man noticed an undisclosed amount of cash missing from a bedroom inside the home.
The suspects, described as two male adults and possibly a male juvenile, have allegedly used a similar ruse across the city in recent weeks.
Several elderly residents reported cash and other items missing from their homes after being approached by three men matching the suspect description in this incident.
One of the adults was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, about 160 pounds. The second adult was described as 5 feet 7 inches, 170 pounds. The juvenile was described as 5 feet 5 inches, 120 pounds.
Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Aurora Police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
