It wasn’t even 11 a.m. Tuesday, and Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies had already received two calls about the scam.
Two residents reported that they were called by alleged Internal Revenue Service agents, who promised to show up at their front door if they didn’t immediately pay for their past due taxes.
Deputies said this is an ongoing scam to solicit money, and that residents should not send any money to these callers.
Anyone who has received similar calls is asked to contact their local police agency. Victims should also file an online report with the Federal Trade Commission at http://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov, police officials said.
