Details about a Kendall County robbery and battery case have come to light in recent court documents.
Charging documents allege that 39-year-old Rickey Carter of Yorkville forced a woman to give him money after he kidnapped her, tied her up, and beat her during an alleged two-day crime spree in July.
On Nov. 6, Kendall County prosecutors charged Carter, 2100 block of Muirfield Drive, with multiple counts of felony domestic battery, unlawful restraint, kidnapping and robbery stemming from a July 10 attack in the county. He was indicted Nov. 26.
According to court records, Carter allegedly strangled a female victim and broke her arm as he dragged her through a house. He allegedly confined her to the bathroom using a dog leash before demanding money from her.
Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis said Carter took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim by force.
Carter is also facing charges in Kane County, where he allegedly beat and robbed a 20-year-old female motel clerk a day after the Kendall County attack.
According to Aurora police, Carter walked into the Motel 6 at 2380 N. Farnsworth Ave. around 3 a.m. on July 11, and asked the female clerk to break a dollar bill.
After he took the change, Carter allegedly pulled a pipe from his waistband, jumped over the counter, and began to attack the clerk.
Carter was able to steal nearly $300 from the motel. He then ran away.
Aurora police issued an announcement to local law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for Carter, and at 4:30 a.m. the search efforts paid off. Carter was walking westbound on Interstate 88 near Toll Plaza 61, between Mitchell Road and Broadway, when he approached an Illinois State Police trooper and asked for a ride.
The trooper recognized Carter as matching the robbery suspect’s description, and took him into custody.
Kane County prosecutors charged Carter with Class X armed robbery.
Weis said Carter’s bail for the new Kendall County kidnapping and robbery charges was set at $250,000.
